Frequently Asked Questions for Daycare

Dog Daycare

Do you provide boarding for dogs?

No. We provide daycare and hydrotherapy for dogs. We can recommend a few good places that do offer boarding.

What will my dog do at daycare?

Your dog will be engaged in many activities throughout the day. Run, play, socialize with playmates, lounge around and hang out with friends in a fun, stimulating, and safe environment. We have a large fenced-in backyard that has plenty of play area and shade.

They’ll enjoy the sunshine (or snow) and fresh air. We normally go for two outings each day. We sometimes visit a dog park in the morning and hike on trails or in a quiet neighbourhood in the afternoon. We try to tailor the activities to suit the group of dogs we have each day.

What are your daycare rates?

The price for one day of daycare for a dog is $30, tax included. We also have 5-, 10- and 20-day packages that will save you money in the long run. See our services page for all prices.

How do I get my dog started at The Barkitorium’s Daycare? What is the initial process?

Please call for an initial phone consultation so we can ensure our daycare is the right fit for your dog. We also welcome any questions or concerns you may have so that we may help you become more familiar with our services and procedures. Your dog must meet our daycare criteria prior to being accepted into our daily playgroups.

We require a completed Daycare Intake form for each of your dogs. Please also provide current vaccination records. We will then review your pet’s registration forms and go over any important information specific to your pet with you.

Can any dog come in for daycare?

No. Every dog will be observed on their initial visit so we can see how they interact with other dogs. They must be at least 5 months old, must be spayed or neutered if they are over 9 months old, and must be currently on veterinarian recommended vaccinations. All dogs must be in good health, flee, lice, tick and mite free, friendly to all dogs, and generally love to play.

The Barkitorium welcomes dogs based on their behaviour, ability to be comfortable and generally social, and if they have not shown any form of aggression towards other dogs or humans.

What vaccinations are required?

All pets must have up-to-date vaccinations. Owners must submit proof from their veterinarian that they have received vaccinations. Specifically, the vaccines required are Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus. These immunizations are commonly referred to as DHLPP, 5-in- 1, or 6-in- 1.

We also require dogs to have the Bordatella, or Kennel Cough, vaccination and highly recommend a veterinary prescribed flea & tick treatment every 30 days such as Advantage Multi or Revolution.
